Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant documentation, policies and procedures

works effectively with others to undertake and effective moving and positioning of materials to form stockpiles to meet all required outcomes including:

preparing for and organising work activities to meet all task requirements

communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions

using a range of communication techniques and aids to advise others of work activity and exclusion zones

demonstrates completion of moving and positioning of materials to form stockpiles that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

confirming and implementing barriers and signage

carrying out pre-start, start-up, park-up and shutdown procedures

operating, steering, manoeuvring and positioning plant and equipment

inspecting stockpile structure

identifying and managing contaminants

conducting basic operational maintenance including servicing, lubrication and cleaning

process written records and reports


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of moving and positioning materials to form stockpiles through:

planning and organising skills to conducting stockpiling operations

problem solving skills to technical resources and infrastructure issues

awareness of site environmental requirements and constraints

experience with site product characteristics

use of pre-start, start-up, operating and shutdown procedures and techniques

awareness of hazardous goods procedures and consequences of spills

use of indicator readings

understanding of site operational system

knowledge of principles of contamination

use of stockpile management processes

use of recording and reporting processes

application of bund construction, drainage and stockpile maintenance procedures

awareness of wet and dry working procedures

application of environmental principles

use of isolation procedures principles

working knowledge of metallurgical and technical data

application of stockpile safety requirements and signage

working knowledge of stockpiling characteristics and limitations
